More job opportunities to be created through 2024 projects
07 Apr 2024
Member Parliament for Boteti East, Mr Sethomo Lelatisitswe has promised his electorate that employment opportunities will be created through a road project due to commence in their area. Addressing residents of Letlhakane during a kgotla meeting on Friday, he implored them to apply for job opportunities availed.
He said 25 kilometres of internal roads was a huge project that would create a large number of job opportunities. He cautioned residents against the bad habit of frequenting shebeens, saying alcoholism led to poor work ethic and dismissal. Contractors, he said, preferred hard workers who were results-oriented.
He informed them that recruitment was fully publicised in all public spaces.
He said projects such as Letlhakane District Hospital, a unified secondary school, expansion of Motsumi Junior Secondary School, power network expansion in Mokubilo and Letlhakane as well as water network expansion were also scheduled for Letlhakane.
He added that the rural village electrification scheduled for Khwee would also create job opportunities for residents.
The internal roads, he said, would be paved and that they had requested that gravelling be done while pending the scheduled pavement. Furthermore, he stated that the Chema Chema Fund was a government programme aimed at borrowing Batswana loans for investment in businesses at low interest rates. He encouraged residents to apply for the fund and electricity connection, saying it was free of charge for Batswana earning below P2 500.
Mr Lelatisitswe was responding to some residents of Letlhakane who had complained of poor internal roads, lack of water and job opportunities.
One of the residents, Mr Banyatsi Salutu complained of the poor status of internal roads while Mr Goitseone Maphorisa requested to be assisted with Chema Chema Fund guidelines, asking if it was a grant or a loan. ENDS
