BTO welcomes Ethiopian airline
02 Apr 2024
Botswana Tourism Organisation (BTO) has hailed the anticipated arrival of Ethiopian Airline to Maun as a step in the right direction.
The organisations acting chief executive officer, Mr Tshepho Mmokele said the airline would bring more tourists and investors as well as enhance the country’ Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) strategy.
Speaking at a stakeholder meeting recently where it was announced that the airline would commence flights on June 10, 2024, Mr Mmokele said the new route would also provide seamless connectivity for travellers from Ethiopia and other parts of Africa to the tourist town of Maun.
He said the addition of Ethiopian airline should motivate Ngamiland residents to up their game and position themselves to market their products as well as receive more travellers and tourists.
He cited Botswana beef, saying it was one of the best in the world. He also urged Maun residents to construct boarding facilities and to offer a wide range of culinary choices to cater for all preferences.
The MICE strategy, he said, was a brilliant idea to boost the economy and attract investments. ENDS
