Police investigate rape of two women in Francistown

Two women aged 33 and 64 years were reportedly raped in Francistown in the early hours of March 31.


Superintendent Neo Serumula of Kutlwano Police told BOPA that in the first incident the 33-year-old woman was attacked around 430am while asleep at her home in Block 2.

According to Superintendent Serumula, the woman is said to have woken up to find herself under attack by the man who also made away with her mobile phone.

In a similar incident, that was reported an hour after the first one and in Block 3, a 64-year-old woman had her door forcibly opened before being raped by an unknown assailant.

The rapist is said to have also stolen the victim’s two mobiles phones. Members of the public have been urged to come forth with any information that could help bring the perpetrators to book.

Meanwhile, Superintendent Jaloni Somolekae of Tati told BOPA that his area of jurisdiction had quiet and peaceful holidays, save for a few incidents of minor assaults common at the bars. Ends
