Tshegetsang remains repatriated home

The body of Botswana Defence Force (BDF) Corporal Goitseone Tshegetsang arrived home on Saturday from Mozambique.

Cpl Tshegetsang died on March 27 following a short illness.

He was deployed as part of BDF’s contingent 5 under the SAMIM Forces in the Cabo Delgado Province for peace support operations in Mozambique.

Delivering a message on behalf of the SAMIM Force Commander Colonel Gebhard Amukwata said Cpl Tshegetsang was a devoted and dedicated soldier who served with pride until he took his last breath.

He said SAMIM was proud of him, the BDF as well as Tshegetsang family.

Col Amukwata encouraged the family to gather the strength to bear the loss.

BDF Director for Strategic Commitment, Brigadier Tshepo Mpetsane appreciated the heartfelt support from SAMIM especially Zambia for bringing the serviceman’s body home.

He said BDF and the family would make final arrangements to lay the late Tshegetsang to rest.

The late Cpl Tshegetsang joined the BDF in 2008 and was posted to the Garrison workshop in Thebephatshwa.

In 2015, he joined the special forces regiment until his death.

In October last year, Cpl Tshegetsang was part of the Botswana contingent to Cabo Delgado.

Botswana sent the first batch of soldiers to Mozambique in July 2021. Ends
