The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will host Botswana Envoys for the 2024 Heads of Mission Conference from today until April 10 in Gaborone.
According to a press release from the ministry, the envoys will take stock of progress made by Botswana Missions in order to advance the country’s interest abroad in support of the national development agenda and the Vision 2036 transformational goals.
According to the release, envoys will also explore ways in which they can enhance existing relationships with the public and private sectors to realise the objectives of the Reset and Reclaim Agenda and advance Botswana towards becoming an export-led, innovative and knowledge-based economy.
The release states that the conference will further provide a platform for the envoys to engage their counterparts accredited to Botswana on key areas of common interest including trade and investment.
President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr Lemogang Kwape will also meet with the envoys to discuss strategic issues of national interest, including addressing ways of enhancing Botswana’s contributions to the global development agenda.
In addition, as part of the conference, the envoys will conduct working visits to Lobu Small Stock Farm, Jwaneng Mine, the Artificial Insermination Facility and the Citrus Project to appreciate the programmes as well as identify ways in which the missions can support the works of the facilities, such as enhancing access of Botswana goods to global markets.
The conference, which brings together heads and representatives of the 23 Botswana diplomatic missions abroad, will be held under the theme: Advancing Botswana Towards a High Income, Inclusive and Knowledge-based Economy Through Strategic Global Engagements. Ends
