BERA announces fuel adjustment
22 Oct 2026
The Botswana Energy Regulatory Authority (BERA) informs the public that the retail pump price for Unleaded Petrol 95 (ULP 95) and Diesel 50ppm will be adjusted upwards by 154 thebe per litre and 283 thebe per litre, respectively.
Therefore, the revised retail pump prices are as follows: Unleaded petrol 95 will cost 1975 thebe per litre, Diesel 50ppm will cost 2376 thebe per litre, while the price of illuminating paraffin will remain unchanged at 1833 thebe per litre.
The revised prices shall come into effect after midnight (00:01hrs) on Friday 23rd October 2026.
The increase is due to heightened volatility in international oil markets and a substantial increase in refined petroleum product prices, driven largely by geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. These developments significantly increased the cost of importation of petroleum products into Botswana.
The Authority will continue to monitor market conditions and make price adjustments as necessary. ENDS
