Foundation transforms Shorobe Primary School

Elephant Havens Wildlife Foundation has made a significant donation to Shorobe Primary School.

The foundation has facilitated renovation of classrooms by installing new ceiling and painting . 

This also included refurbishment of a classroom that was built in 1964, as well as provision of two large tents, school combi, 16 MacBooks, furniture and school uniforms.

Speaking at the handover ceremony in Shorobe recently, Director and Co-founder of Elephant Havens Wildlife Foundation, Mr Boago Poloko said the donations were efforts for community outreach as they want to build a child friendly environment for the children in Shorobe.

“We have adopted this school as one of our baby elephants and we want the school to be the best in academic performance in the district and ultimately the whole country,” he said.

He further highlighted that Elephant Havens Wildlife Foundation was registered in 2017 and had since been working with Shorobe village to make a conducive environment for both elephants and residents in the area.

For her part, the acting School Head for Shorobe Primary School, Ms Peggy Moloi shared the deplorable state that the school was in and how Mr Poloko and his team handled the situation exceptionally well.

“The renovation of classrooms by Elephant Havens will create a more conducive learning environment for students and teachers and enhance the overall educational experience,” she said.

Council Secretary for North West District Council, Mr Thatayotlhe Balapi encouraged residents to support educational initiatives saying education was the foundation of excellence.

The staff and students of Shorobe Primary School extended their gratitude to Elephant Havens for the invaluable support and dedication to enhancing educational. 

He also announced that they will be constructing a block of water system toilets for the school and renovate the existing toilet block to meet the health standards. Ends
