27 Mar 2024

Five trade unions being Botswana Public Employees Union, Botswana Teachers Union, Botswana Sectors of Educators Trade Union, Botswana Nurses Union, and Botswana Land Board and Local Authorities and Health Workers Union as well as the employer being Directorate of Public Service Management (DPSM) converged on Mahalapye for salary negotiations process for the financial year 2024/25. The meeting commenced Saturday and ended Tuesday.

A press release from the two parties (unions and DPSM) says the negotiations emanated from clause 2.1.3 of the 2022 collective labour agreement entered into by the employer and the five recognised trade unions, which provided for across the board salary adjustment of five per cent for the 2024/25 financial year effective April 1, and is subject to performance of the economy and to be reviewed jointly by the parties.

The parties have, therefore, agreed that the negotiations be adjourned for a period of 20 working days and re-convene May 3, the press release states.

It also says that parties have agreed on the implementation of an across the board salary adjustment of five per cent for the financial year 2024/25 effective April 1. Ends
