Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) youths have been applauded for their role in promoting a Christian way of life in Molepolole.
Speaking at the end of a walk that was meant to promote Christianity in Molepolole on Sunday, Molepolole South MP, Mr Kabo Morwaeng said he was impressed by the youths’ efforts.
Mr Morwaeng, who is also Minister for State President, hailed the initiative, saying Jesus was the light, represented peace and tranquillity, hence it was important to follow Him.
“If we walk with Him, we will stop the killings, the so-called passion killings would end,” he said.
He said it was important for the youths to invite Jesus to reign in the village for it to enjoy peace.
Mr Morwaeng attributed some of challenges experienced in the village to sin, adding it was disheartening to find people who still believed ritual killings could make them rich.
“Let’s all embrace mindset change and leave these ancient and evil practice behind,” he said.
He implored youths to be exemplary and be the agents of the change they wanted to see.
Mr Morwaeng said if Christians remained steadfast in their faith and constantly pray, obey the word of God, and pray for the country, God would heal the land.
He said government recognised the important role played by churches, hence there was freedom of religion in the country.
The minister further said they should not forget to pray for peaceful elections, and for a government that would be peaceful and accountable to its citizens.
This, he said, should also be backed by registering for elections and voting for a party of their choice.
For his part, Kgosi Kgari III of Bakwena thanked the church for the initiative and said it should be supported in its endeavour of bringing change to the village.
He said youths like that of SDA could help build a better nation, noting that some youths had been lost to alcohol and drug abuse.
The walk was hosted by SDA Youths from Lekgwapheng in Molepolole and others from Gaborone and Jwaneng participated in the walk. ENDS
