Police investigates Phase 2 shooting incident

Gaborone West Station Commander Superintendent Knight Molosiwa has confirmed an incident in which two men aged between 35-40 were shot dead by police between 5pm-6pm at Phase 2 on March 11.
He said the two men, who were suspected to have killed a man of Indian origin aged 54, were Batswana.
Supt Molosiwa said they received a tipoff from an anonymous source who witnessed the two men jumping over the wall into the man’s yard.
He said their patrolling policemen attended the scene where they met two men exiting the yard, one armed with a knife and the other with a pistol.
The policemen responded by firing warning shots in the air, however, both men refused to retreat and attempted to attack the policemen, he said.
Supt Molosiwa said defending themselves, the policemen shot both men on the spot thereafter proceeded to into the yard to assess the situation and they found a man of Indian origin lying unconscious in the bathroom, hands tied to the back, with both legs bound together.
The three, he said were taken to hospital where they were confirmed dead.
Investigations on the incident are ongoing. Ends
