Holy Matrimony Society donates to hospital

It is during special times like child birth that women require support and care, not only from their partners, but members of the society as well.
This was said by events coordinator of Holy matrimony society (HMS) Serowe/Palapye branch, Ms Mpho Keikotlhaile-Mmika when the group went to donate 13 baby clothing and toiletry hampers to the maternity ward at Sekgoma Memorial Hospital on February 16.
Formed in 2019 and registered in August 2023 by a group of married couples, Ms Keikotlhaile-Mmika highlighted that the Society believed in the power of love, care and support, especially during special times like the arrival of a new born. Ms Keikotlhaile-Mmika said they believed that such occasions brought joy and happiness to families.
She added that HMS had observed that there were challenges that came with the journey and therefore, decided to find ways of tackling those, to ease the process. Ms Keikotlhaile-Mmika said new borns needed essential items such as clothing and toiletries.
“We specifically chose the month of February to carry out this exercise because it is a month of love and we are all about sharing and promoting love within families. There is no better way of showing love and support to an individual than when thery are at their most vulnerable state,” she stressed.
When receiving the gifts on behalf of the hospital, acting hospital superintendent, Dr Kefilwe Ramoruswa appreciated the society’s efforts as it was in line with the national Vision 2036 second pillar of Human and Social Development.
She commended the society for choosing their hospital to benefit from their Corporate Social Responsibility and added that the gesture would go a long way in improving the welfare of new born babies. Dr Ramoruswa expressed hope that the partnership would grow, going forward.
Chief registered nurse, Ms Kabo Masupe applauded Holy Matrimony Society for remembering new borns and added that babies had the right to good health, which could be promoted through providing them with basic needs.
Ms Masupe, who is also a midwife, said she sometimes donated her own children’s baby clothes to new borns whose mothers could not afford to buy any clothing items for them.
“It is a painful sight to watch given that some of us are also mothers and would wish someone could come to our aid when in the same situation,” Ms Masupe added.
She said the society was doing a good job by creating a safe space for new borns and for making their arrival in the world worthwhile. ENDS
