20 Feb 2024

Mogoditshane police are appealing to the public to assist in finding missing siblings aged 14 and 12 years.

In an interview, Mogoditshane Police Station commander, Superintendent Boemo Bok said the two, a girl and her younger brother, were reported missing on February 15.

Supt. Bok said according to information they received, the boy was sent to a nearby tuckshop, but after he failed to return home, his elder sister was sent to look for him, but she also disappeared.

He said they were however hopeful that they would eventually return home, where they stayed with their father and stepmother, but on Friday (February 16) the police launched a search party.

He said the village leadership, dikgosi and councillors were briefed about the missing siblings on February 17 and residents joined in the search for the missing siblings.

Supt. Bok said the tuckshop owner told the police that none of the children had been to the tuckshop.

He said at the time of their disappearance, the girl was wearing a green skirt and a black t/shirt without shoes while her brother was wearing grey pants and sneakers.

The two are learners at Nkoyaphiri Primary School, with the girl doing Standard 7 and the brother in Standard 4.

He urged parents to continuously check on their children and ensure they returned home before dark, adding people should tell their families or friends about their whereabouts. The search for the siblings continues. ENDS
