The Vice President Mr Slumber Tsogwane has implored the public to register to vote and build a government that would secure a future for the next generation. 

Mr Tsogwane was addressing residents of Rakops and Xere villages on Tuesday during kgotla meetings. 

He informed the residents that the decision to vote should not be based on the interests of an individual but that of a nation. 

He said voting is an investment in the future, noting that it was a way of assuming responsibility in governance and national security. 

The Vice President said policy direction, socio-economic development and international relations were all influenced by the collective voice expressed through the vote.  Mr Tsogwane stated that people who have registered for elections understood the value of voting, indicating that the future of a nation is sculpted by its voters.

He said the impact of voting resonated through various facets of everyday life. “Participate in voting and be one of the people that will vote in a government of your choice,” he said. 

He added that voting sustains democracy and it thrives when citizens participate fully. 

Mr Tsogwane noted that only 3 000 people registered for elections in Takatokwane, expressing concern that the number was too low. He cautioned that transfers would not take place easily during 2024 general election as the electoral act was now firm. 

In Xere village Mr Tsogwane stated that Rural Development Council ranches would help residents to gain skills on artificial insemination. 

He implored them to make use of Setata quarantine camp to develop their small stock and benchmark from Lobu. Mr Tsogwane further informed the residents that construction of roads would be included in National Development Plan 12, advising them to prioritise projects during planning. 

He said the Boteti South-Central cluster villages water project is ongoing and covered eight villages including Xere. ends
