Employees at Central Transport Office building in the CBD in Gaborone were left helpless this morning when they reported for duty, as a security guard locked the building denying them access. The 23-year-old guard claimed he was owed three months salary. The police were called to rescue the situation and the guard was arrested. Borakanelo Police station commander superintendent, Amos Solomon said people should not take law into their own hands when they felt aggrieved. He said if it was a matter that concerned employer and employee, the latter should report to the labour office. Superintendent Solomon said the suspect was currently in police custody pending investigations. He said he was likely to be charged with common nuisance, a charge if found guilty, could have him imprisoned for a period not exceeding a year. Recently, the Private Security Services Licensing Board had suspended 11 operating security companies for non- compliance. The suspensions were due to a number of issues among them staff welfare such as failing to pay salaries.
