Provide nurturing environment for children

Vice President Slumber Tsogwane has emphasised the need for quality care and support for the children. Addressing kgotla meeting in Xhumo and Mmadikola villages recently, Mr Tsogwane said provision of  of  a nurturing environment for children was critical to ensure their optimal development, particularly through access to healthcare and education. 

He  also highlighted the significance of understanding the growth and development patterns of children to effectively guide them through each stage. 

“Let us raise children as children. If a child falls pregnant that child would become a parent at an early stage,” he said.

Moreover, he stressed the importance of allowing children to grow at their own pace and empowering them to reach their full potential, thereby shaping them into responsible future leaders. 

Mr Tsogwane also mentioned the government’s efforts in facilitating child development, including the provision of early childhood education and ensuring access to clean water supply across the country.

“Government has provided a conducive environment for child development, such as access to early childhood education, saying that all government schools has reception classes. 

Currently, he said there were 25 560 learners in reception and Standard One classes.

Mr Tsogwane also  provided updates on various water projects, such as the establishment of treatment plants in Mahalapye, Palapye, and Gumare, as well as the ongoing water projects in different areas like Lobatse-Mogojogojo and Maun. 

He also  highlighted that the North-South Carrier projectthe  was scheduled for completion this year while Gamononyane-Molepolole water connection was complete.  Furthermore, he said the government was committed to completion of  various water supply and sanitation initiatives in different regions such the pipeline and pump station connecting 18 villages in the Tswapong area,  Boteti Southern cluster water project ,  Maun water supply and sanitation project as well as  Moshupa and Kanye sanitation projects. ends
