Hichilema embarks on a two-day visit this week

Zambia President, Mr Hakainde Hichilema is expected to undertake a two-day official visit to Botswana this week.
A press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs says that President Hichilema will be in Botswana at the invitation of President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi from January 24 to 25. The two Heads of State will meet in Kasane.
The release says during the visit, both Presidents will hold official talks on issues of common interest, including exploring potential areas to further enhance cooperation between Botswana and Zambia.
Botswana and Zambia cooperate in various sectors such as agriculture, tourism, health, trade and transport,” the release states.
One of the milestones realised through the fruitful cooperation between the two countries is the construction of the Kazungula Bridge, which was officially opened in 2021.
Further, the release says the two countries established diplomatic relations in 1966, and continue to enjoy strong bonds of friendship founded on shared values of mutual respect, commitment to democracy, good governance and respect for human rights and the rule of law.
President Hichilema will be accompanied by government ministers and other senior officials. ends
