 Police in Shakawe are investigating two incident s.

 In one incident , a 64-year-old man was allegedly killed by lightning at Kauxwi village.

Shakawe Police Station Commander, Superintendent Ogolotse Tampa said that the police received a report on Monday morning that a man was found with injuries inder a tree.

He said the police went to the scene and found the man who had some wounds while some tree leaves were burnt which showed signs of lightning incident.

He said that the man was taken to JP Kavindama Primary Hospital in Shakawe where he was certified dead.

Supt Tampa said preliminary investigations showed that the deceased and his sister were caught up by rain in the evening on Sunday at their fields. 

While the sister went to her place, the man found shelter under the tree where he was found.

In another incident, Supt Tampa said that the police were investigating an incident in which an 11-year-old girl was raped by a stranger while she was sleeping with her sister in her room.

Supt Tampa said that the incident happened in the early morning of Monday at around 3am.

He said the mother was sleeping in a two bedroomed house with her two daughters in a separate room. When she saw lights going off and went to check on her daughters, she found a strange man in the room who ran away when the woman approached.

Supt Tampa said the mother examined her daughters aged 15 and 11 and found that the younger one was affected.

 The girl was taken to JP Kavindama Primary Hospital where the rape incident was confirmed and she would be sent for further tests at Letsholathebe Memorial Hospital in Maun. Ends
