BTTA coaching clinic starts Saturday
12 Jan 2024
Botswana Table Tennis Association (BTTA) will this weekend host a two-day coaching seminar for female coaches at Ave Maria conference Centre in Gaborone.
The association’s public relations officer, Tshegofatso Malepa said the coaching seminar would primarily focus on empowering female coaches and fostering gender inclusivity in the sport. The coaching clinic will be conducted by a level two coach.
Malepa said the coaching seminar was a testimony of efforts made by BTTA to support and develop female coaches, adding that the training was poised to make a positive impact on the development of the sport locally and regionally.
Meanwhile, BTTA will also hold its first meeting of the season on Saturday. Among the agenda items, Malepa said the meeting would deliberate on the local calendar of events and pave a way for other activities planned for the season.
She added that the meeting would kick-start preparations for hosting the Africa U-15 and U-19 Youth Championships and the Commonwealth Youth Championships, both slated for Botswana in July.
Malepa also confirmed that the Youth Championships would be hosted by Gaborone from July 15 to 21. She said Gaborone was ideal for hosting the championships as it had adequate training facilities and venues as well as accommodation for hosting an event of such magnitude.
Additionally, Malepa said hosting the two events would also guide BTTA and other partners on improving facilities that would put Gaborone in a position to host any other international sport and even non sporting events. Ends
