Bofdy of 24-year - old man of Mahalapye recovered

The body of a 24-year-old man of Mahalapye who drowned in Mahalapye River on Tuesday, was on Friday recovered from the river near the bridge along A1 road. In an interview with BOPA on December 30, Mahalapye District Commissioner, Mr Ernest Phiri said the body was found in a bad state at around 9 pm on Friday and was transferred to Mahalapye Hospital. He said next of kin were informed of the recovery. He however, could not disclose the names of the 24-year-old man given that some relatives may not have been informed. The man will be buried Sunday. Meanwhile a three-year-old boy of Moloko ward in Mahalapye who perished following recent heavy downpours was laid to rest today . The 15-year-old boy of Mowana ward in Mahalapye who also drowned would be laid to rest on Tuesday at Otse in the Shoshong constituency. On other issues, Mr Phiri said a total of 28 households housing 195 people in Mahalapye were affected by recent floods. A total of 24 households were assisted with food baskets and were assisted to find refuge or temporary shelter at relatives’ homes. He said the rains also left a trail of destruction in businesses. He thus appealed to businesses and individuals to lend a helping hand to all those affected. EndsSource : BOPA
