 Murder accused person, Bakang Masole appeard in court December 18 for the murder of Phenyo Jakoba. 

He is accused of murdering Jakoba on or about November 9 near Mosinki lands in Molepolole.

 The accused is also charged with robbing Jakoba and at the time of robbery, or immediately before or after, used violence to retain his blue Honda fit car valued at P40 000. 

Sub-inspector Maureen Segokgo of Botswana Police told court that investigations were ongoing and post-mortem report had not yet been released. 

She further stated that they were still following leads that may lead them to exhibits.

She told the court that the accused should remain in custody as investigations were ongoing and that court should grant them ample time to conclude investigations.

Masole told the magistrate that he was assaulted by Criminal Investigative Department officers during investigations, beating him, threatening to kill him and report him as a missing person.

Chief Magistrate Gaseitsewe Tonoki warned that officers of the law were not supposed to assault or threaten the accused and that if any of that happened to the accused he should report such issues to the officer in charge in Prison. 

He further mentioned that the accused would be remanded further and appear in court on January 11. ENDS
