Zen completes walk
10 Dec 2013
Zenzele Hirschfield has successfully completed her 200km walk within stipulated time.
Zen as commonly known, had embarked in a 200km walk from Mahalapye to Gaborone on November 29 to December 7. As part of her charitable project, the ten good deeds, the walk meant to raise awareness on risky behaviours and also raise funds for the needy.
The charitable walk themed ‘Meet Me Half Way’ was her ninth deed since she engaged in the ten good deeds last year. Funds raised through the walk will go to the Dream Centre’s account, an independent rehabilitation school for children with disabilities.
During the walk, Zen preached to the youth about the dangers of engaging in risky behaviours which include unhealthy diets which lead to obesity, excessive alcohol and tobacco use. The local renowned promoter also advocated and appealed to the public to eat traditional food as it is healthier.
She said at the end of the walk that she intended to engage in such walks annually, noting that the next one is going be bigger.
She added that she will engage other women of big weight from different regions of the country in the walk and will award prizes. Zen also said money raised in the next walk will still go to the same beneficiary; the Dream Centre, and she intends to sponsor ten children from the school for their education. ENDS
