Botswana Shandong Business Association has donated a mini bus and food humpers to Gamodubu Child Care Trust.

Speaking during the donation event in Gamodubu on Thursday, the association’s vice chairperson, Mr Xu Hai, said the gesture was motivated by their conviction that education was a powerful instrument that could change the world for the better. He said education was the cornerstone of any development drive, hence the need to nurture and ensure that no one is left behind.

Mr Xu said through their corporate social responsibility programme, they supported initiatives that empowered people to embrace and adapt to the ever-evolving world. He said their association contributed to the social and economic development of Botswana. “As an organisation operating in Botswana, we also appreciate the stable investment and environment which allows us to do business smoothly, hence the donation,” said Mr Xu.

He promised that their association would continue to help deepen China and Botswana friendly relations as well as contribute to cooperation in various fields of economy, trade, culture and education. The Chairperson of Good Samaritan, Ms Phondy Morwaeng, commended the founders of Gamodubu Child Trust for their resilience in raising the future of Botswana.

She said moulding a child needed efforts to challenge pupils to identify their capabilities and strive for a successful future.

“For children to excel and keep up the performance, all stakeholders must ensure they play an active role of supporting education,” she said.

Ms Morwaeng said the donation contributed to the drive of moving from a resource based economy to knowledge based one. Founder of the Gamodubu Child Care Trust Ms Shirley Madikwe, applauded Botswana Shandong Business Association for taking interest in the welfare of children’s education, saying the donation would impact positively on the learning environment.

“The donation came at the accurate time as we are faced with shortage of transport,” indicated Ms Madikwe. ENDS
