Members of Parliament have emphasised the importance of ensuring that individuals with various forms of disabilities are adequately represented and have their rights protected.

Furthermore, he emphasised the significance of accessible government buildings to ensure inclusivity.

Mr Mmolotsi said he believed that addressing the challenges faced by individuals with disabilities does not solely rely on legislation, but also required a comprehensive approach.

He urged for equal recognition of their contributions to the country’s economy.

Also debating the bill was Mr Kabo Morwaeng, the MP for Molepolole South, who emphasised the critical role of the law in protecting the rights of people with disabilities.

He said that government was committed to upholding the rule of law and ensuring that no individual was subjected to discrimination.

Advocating for a centralised approach, Mr Sam Brooks, MP for  Kgalagadi South, suggested that services for people with disabilities should fall under a single ministry. He also highlighted the importance of allocating a significant portion of the budget to meet their specific needs.

While Mr Mephato Reatile, MP for Jwaneng/Mabutsane, raised concerns about the financial burden faced by individuals with disabilities.
