Acquisition of sub-title deed delays clinic construction
05 Dec 2023
The need to acquire a sub-title deed has caused a delay in the construction of a clinic on a piece of land offered by the Dutch Reformed Church (DRC) in D’Kar.
This was revealed by the minister of Entrepreneurship Mr Karabo Gare when answering a question in Parliament on behalf of the Minister of Health recently. Mr Gare explained that the application for the sub-title deed for the clinic could not be processed by the Deeds Registry as the church did not have the original title deed for the D’Kar farm.
“Only copies were available but Deeds Registry required the originals for them to process the sub-title deed application for the Ministry of Health,” said the minister.
He said the Ghanzi District Council had engaged consultants to assist the church with the application for the lost title deed. He pointed out that the Deeds Registry would then be able to process the applications once the original documents were available.
Mr Gare said the Ministry had planned to construct a clinic with a maternity wing on the piece of land.
“The design for the clinic has not been finalised yet, but prototype designs for the clinic with maternity are available for adoption once all the necessary soil investigations are completed. The soil investigations are planned to be complete by the end of the current quarter (December 2023) while designs are anticipated to be completed by the fourth quarter,” he said.
He said the initial phase of the project, being construction of staff houses was complete. He said the budget allocated for the project was P20 million. He further said construction was anticipated to start in the 2024/25 financial year.
Ghanzi North MP Mr John Thiite had asked the minister about progress made in the acquisition of land offered to the Ministry of Health by the DRC in D’Kar for the construction of a new clinic. Ends
