The field of healthcare is constantly evolving hence it is essential that every healthcare worker remains committed to lifelong learning and professional development.

Speaking during Bokamoso Private Hospital nurses’ graduation at Hilton Garden Inn on November 22, Ministry of Health consultant Dr Morrison Sinvula congratulated the graduates for their hard work and contributions to the lives of the people.

He urged the graduates to embrace the challenges ahead in their journey with confidence as they had been equipped with the knowledge and skills to overcome such.

Dr Sinvula said the training came at the right time.

He said such efforts were bridging the skills gap that Botswana continued to experience in the health sector, noting that the country had shortage of trained critical care nurses.

In an interview nurse practicing manager at Lenmed Nursing College Dr Liezl Balfour said the college entered into a partnership with the hospital after realising the need to upskill the nurses.

“There is need to upskill in all departments and the short practical courses are open for every nurse in the country. If they want to retool they can get in touch with Bokamoso Private Hospital to enrol for the programmes,” she said.

Four graduates were recognised for their exceptional work in their studies and these were recognised as the best overall student, best practical overall, best theory overall and best overall in adult intensive care. ENDS
