Tsogwane commends Khumaga Trust
12 Nov 2023
Vice President, Mr Slumber Tsogwane has commended Ngande Trust in Khumaga for standing the test of time.
Giving a vote of thanks remarks at the official opening of the newly established Moela Safari Lodge yesterday, Mr Tsogwane said it was pleasing to see the trust running smoothly with no reported incidents of internal conflicts or funds mismanagement.
Situated along Boteti River banks, Moela Safari Lodge is on a land that is owned by Ngande Trust and leased to the lodge owners.
The Vice President said it was visionary of the trust or people of Khumaga to utilise the tourist attraction land for the benefit of the community.
Mr Tsogwane, who is also Boteti West MP emphasised the need to conserve natural resources such as Boteti River for tourism and indigenous knowledge.
He said for a long time, the river had been of significant benefit to both wildlife and those living in the area.
Even though Boteti River could dry up for a long time with no inflow, Mr Tsogwane said there were natural ponds in the river that never dried up and could continue to serve as watering points for livestock and wild animals.
He also urged the community to take good care of the electrified Makgadikgadi National Park fence as it was meant to minimise issues of human-wildlife conflict that were rife in Boteti. ENDS
