Clean environment promotes healthy living

12 Nov 2023

Gaborone City Mayor, Mr Austin Abram,  has commended the collaborative efforts of both the government and Block 3 residents in their cleaning efforts as a way of improving a healthy living in the community.

“You are doing a great job and I urge you to spread the word in your community and educate them on how to properly dispose litter just so you will be able to maintain the high standard of cleanliness you have set for yourselves and other communities,” he said.

With a shared vision of creating a greener and healthier living space, the residents have come together to tackle environmental challenges head-on and their commitment to cleanliness extends far beyond their own homes as they actively engage in activities that benefit the entire community.

The residents have gone beyond simple litter picking and have dedicated themselves to maintaining a pristine environment.

Chief Health Officer in the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, Ms Tuduetso Ramokate said her ministry saw it fit to support the residents by joining in the clean-up campaign.

Re ne re batla go supa gore ga re laela banni gore ba phephafatse tikologo tsa bone re raya jang, eseng go ba laela re le mo di ofising tsa rona,” she said.

The residents regularly do community clean-up campaings that happen every month, bringing neighbours together, fostering a sense of unity and shared responsibility.

They meticulously clean even hard-to-reach areas in their ward.  ENDS
