MP urges youth to register to vote
06 Nov 2023
The youth in Molepolole South have been implored to register to vote in the 2024 general elections in large numbers.
Minister for State President and also Member of Parliament for Molepolole South, Mr Kabo Morwaeng made the call during a meeting with the youth at Lemepe Conference Centre in Molepolole on Thursday.
He said the youth formed a large section of the population hence they should take elections seriously as a means to choose their leaders.
Mr Morwaeng reminded the youth that Botswana, as an epitome of peace and democracy, had consistently held free and fair elections over the years.
He said the government remained committed to ensuring that Batswana continued to enjoy their right in choosing their leaders through free and transparent elections.
Mr Morwaeng said national elections should not be taken lightly, as doing so was tantamount to failing to take responsibility to choose the right leaders to govern the nation.
He told the youth that voter registration gave them an opportunity to take part in the national general elections and those who did not register would not take part in the elections.
He stressed the importance of all youths taking part and asked those who had attended to tell all their friends, family and relatives to register to vote from November 13 to December 8.
Mr Morwaeng assured his audience that the elections would not be tampered with and government was committed to holding the elections within the time period prescribed by the Constitution. ENDS
