 Building strong families lead to successful communities and the nation.

Speaking during closing ceremony of an 18-day family building seminar in Kanye on Thursday, the MP for Kanye South, Dr Lemogang Kwape, urged attendees to wisely use the information to build a better Botswana.

“I had asked for the seminar to be held here after realising the positive impact it had in other communities around the country and I believe this would not stop here,” he said.

Dr Kwape thanked Healthy Families Foundation for having equipped the residents with valuable information and the community for attending in large numbers.

Kgosi Ashton Sealetsa of Motebejana ward urged attendees to embrace mind-set change to build a successful nation.

“To build a great nation, we should start by building strong communities,” he added. “Let us start doing things differently.”

Southern region Chief Education Officer, Ms Barulaganye Moseki, highlighted that with healthy strong families, children’s school examination results would improve.

“When families are faced with challenges, children from such families would not do well at school, in most cases,” she said.

Sometimes, she said, teachers did not perform up to expectations due to challenges at home. Therefore addressing such would improve productivity. She decried drug use by students as well as teenage pregnancies, adding that she was optimistic that with teachings from the seminar, such challenges would be minimized.

Ms Ashley Thaba explained that they had equipped around sixteen thousand Batswana with information through such seminars, adding that it was a sign that Batswana wanted to positively change their lives and build a great nation.

Ms Thaba said social ills such as gender-based violence cases would be reduced and school examination results would improve. ENDS
