Arsonist to appear again on December 18

Francistown Principal Magistrate, Mr Thebeetsile Mulalo has set December 18 as another mention date for the 34 year-old man of Zimbabwe accused of arson.

Mr Mulalo also instructed the prosecution to furnish the accused, Mgcini Ncube with the statements on the matter prior to the set mention date. Ncube had asked for statements of the matter so that he could enlighten himself on the case and requested the court to grant him permission to accompany the police to get the money he is owed because he was arrested before payment.

Earlier the Prosecutor, Sergeant Kabelo Moremi informed the court that the docket of the matter was handed to Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) and explained that a State counsel has not yet been allocated the case. He also informed the court that the police hit a blank in assisting to collect the money from the people who owed Ncube as they were not available.

Sgt Moremi however said the police left a message to be relayed to them that they must make arrangements of handing the money at the police station. He is facing two charges of arson for two houses in Sebina cross lands. The arson is alleged to have taken place on August 9 this year. ENDS
