Principal Registration Officer, Mr Lopang Pule addressing temporary voters registration clerks from Gaborone constituencies during an emergency meeting at Gaborone Civic Centre on Wednesday. He told them that the Independent Electoral Commission had taken a decision to postpone national voter registration which was scheduled to start on November 1. He said the commission had taken a decision to postpone the registration to November 13 until December 8. The postponement follows a Francistown High Court order interdicting and restraining anyone from preventing the applicant, Umbrella for Democratic Change (or its agents, from observing and monitoring the national registration process. Voter registration clerks were urged to return stationery and material that they were issued with for registration. They were told that they would be recalled when registration resumes.
