Green Loop Environmental consultants will host a Sustainability and Environmental Social Governance (ESG) summit 2023 at Royal Aria Convention Centre in Tlokweng next month.

Addressing a press conference October 24, Gaborone mayor, Mr Austin Abraham commended the company founder, Ms Lindiwe Modise for the initiative to establish an innovative green oriented company with knowledge of green technology products and markets both locally and internationally.

He said their mission and vision was in alignment with the city council’s clean-up campaign and city sustainability mandate as well as the mindset change campaign.

He applauded Ms Modise for organising the summit themed: Climate Change Accountability Through Sustainable Frameworks.

The summit is expected to be attended in person by over 300 delegates and more than 1 000 participants through online platforms.

Green Loop connected people with nature and contributed towards conserving the environment and protecting it for future generations to appreciate, the mayor said.

He said over its four years of operation, Green Loop had assumed the role of mindset change and climate change champion through its sustainability awareness initiatives, consultancy services and bio-degradable products.

For her part, Ms Modise said she established the company as a 100 per cent youth, female and locally-led consultancy company aimed at contributing towards addressing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and promoting a zero-waste society.

As a sustainability and environmental consultancy agency, she said they assisted stakeholders to understand how to manage risks and opportunities around sustainability as well as implementation and monitoring services.

She also said they encouraged companies to act responsibly through green financing, which held companies engaged in risky or unethical practices accountable.

She said she had budgeted about P500 000 for the two-day summit, adding that they wanted it to be a zero-waste digital summit with no papers or plastics.

Amongst the panellists expected at the summit, she said there would be two international speakers, ministers, chief executive officers, chief financial officers as well as representatives from Small, Micro and Medium Enterprises. ENDs
