Shakawe entrepreneur diversifies products

25 Oct 2023

Self-discipline, determination and sacrifice are some of the essential elements that keeps the business enterprise of 39-year-old Mr Thuso Mouti of Gumare  successful.

Mr Mouti is the proud owner and managing director of Zekethubojwa Waste Management Suppliers and Cleaning Services based in Shakawe. The business specialises in clinical, domestic and industrial waste collection, cleaning services, pest control services, treatment of waste-water ponds, sludge degradation and the treatment of pit latrines.

The astute young entrepreneur plans to further diversify his business interests and to manufacture cleaning chemicals such as window cleaners, fabric softeners, carpet shampoos, liquid bleaches and vehicle shampoos.

He said the Ministry of Health had already issued him a chemical clearance certificate and that he was constructing two warehouses for storage and a manufacturing workshop.

Mr Mouti said running a successful business required taking risks, sacrifices and discipline.

He said if one did not work hard they could fail, and that planning and effective management were key to increasing the chances of success.

He said sacrifice and self-discipline kept him going and that they allowed him to work towards his goals and avoid distractions

He secured P100 000 through the Youth Development Fund three years ago and procured 10 mobile toilets that he used their proceeds to purchase two waste collection trucks.

Without sacrifice, hard work and self-discipline he reckons that his business would never have seen the light of day.

“Self-discipline has helped me to manage my time effectively and to make tough decisions necessary to grow my business,” he said. “I am working towards expanding and diversifying the products that I offer.”

Mr Mouti said his warehouses would be completed and operational before the end of the year, adding that the project was creating employment opportunities for the youth.

He noted that his company had a staff complement of more than 30 employees.

He also intends to construct a recreational centre within his premises where people, employees and visitors could relax and have peace of mind. He said recreational facilities were needed in Shakawe, and that they were an integral part of tourism.

“I am happy with the amount of business support I get from both government and the private sector, and I will continue to explore other available opportunities to grow my business and eventually employ more of my fellow youth,” he said.

Mr Mouti asked the youth in business to exercise patience, citing that success required discipline and sacrifice, especially in managing finances. ENDS
