Mmadinare school strives for better results

23 Oct 2023

Mmadinare Primary School has devised strategies to improve its academic results.

The school intends to improve its quality pass as well as the ABC pass rate in order to be in the list of top performing schools.

“We have not been performing well for the past five years and we are intending to change our academic results for the better,” said the school head, Ms Colleen Lekone, during Mmadinare Primary School prize giving ceremony on October 19.

One of the strategies to help improve performance, she said, was strengthening the Parents Teacher Association and enhancing stakeholder engagement, adding that Zhengtai company had come on board to sponsor some of the prizes to the tune of P20 000.

“Even though there are challenges we are facing, this would not stop us from achieving good results,” she said.

However, she pleaded with the council and other stakeholders to help build more classrooms as the ones available were old mud classrooms in a dilapidated state.

She said shortage of classrooms forced them to work on shift basis.

Ms Lekone said the school also turned one storeroom into a classroom, adding that teachers too were faced with a serious shortage of accommodation.

The school, with a population of 496 pupils, scored 70.5 per cent and 73.3 per cent in 2021 and 2022 examinations respectively.

Speaking on behalf of the area MP, Mmadinare constituency administration officer, Mr Letumile Molodi said the school had the potential to perform well.

He said a good education played a crucial role in building a bright future for the children, commending parents and teachers for leaving no stone unturned in working towards attaining good academic results.

“We are indeed creating a distinct path for our pupils to follow as they are our future leaders.” he said.

He thanked the sponsors and all those that contributed to the success of the school.

“I still believe that with extra effort you can do better,” he said.

Pupils Aone Moatlhodi, Kessy Thusanang, Junior Setshwantsho received Best Overall Awards for Standard seven, six and five respectively. ENDS
