Kgosi Masunga laid rest

Different speakers have described the late Kgosi Sam Masunga who was laid to rest in Tatisisiding Saturday as jolly but a strict administrator who did not shy away from taking painful decisions.

“He was a remarkable leader who understood his duties very well and treated them with the seriousness they deserved,’’ Assistant Minister of Local Government and

Rural Development, Mr Sethabelo Modukanele eulogizing Kgosi Masunga during the funeral service.

He said Kgosi Masunga was not only involved in politics, but also had a profound impact on administrative and organisational structures.

Mr Modukanele said the late kgosi was a driving force behind change and progress, and his legacy was one of strength, leadership, and wisdom.

His untimely demise, the minister said, was not only a loss to the Masunga family but also the entire nation.

The Mayor of Francistown, Mr Godisang Radisigo said Kgosi Masunga had left a gap that would be difficult to fill.

He said the late kgosi, though once a shrewd politician, discharged his duties without fear and favour in the public service.

He said the deceased respected the rule of law and was a readily available father and civil servant of note.

“A very jolly person and very respectful of others,” said Mr Radisigo.

The mayor also said the late Kgosi Masunga discharged his duties with diligence and distinction whilst he was a councillor for Area W between 2004 and 2009.

For his part, Francistown East MP, Mr Buti Billy who worked with the late Kgosi Masunga described him as humble but disciplined person both politically and administratively.

He told mourners that the late Kgosi Masunga served diligently when he was a Research and Administrative officer from 2014 to 2019.

The Francistown East legislator said the deceased would be remembered for his dedication towards community development, adding it would be difficult to find his replacement. Kgosi Masunga is survived by wife, Ms Boikhutso Masunga, two siblings and two children. Ends
