Cases of mumps decline
05 Oct 2023
Cases of mumps have drastically gone down, with no case detected since September.
In an interview, the Ministry of Health spokesperson Dr Christopher Nyanga said following the first case of mumps that was confirmed in July, the ministry had reported just above one hundred cases nationally.
Dr Nyanga said some cases of mumps were detected in some District Health Management Teams around the country.
“Nevertheless, the numbers were fewer than those found in Greater Gaborone,” noted Dr Nyanga.
He said children affected were below 15 years, adding that majority of them had fully recovered, with zero reports of hospitalisations or deaths. ENDS
