30 Sep 2023

Residents of Kalamare have been urged to make use of available opportunities to better their lives and that of others.

Speaking during Botswana's 57th Independence Celebrations in Kalamare on Saturday a resident of Kalamare Dr Oarabile Serumola said mindset change called for all Batswana to make use of available opportunities and resources around them to develop the socio-economic status of the country.

She said as the country celebrates it was imperative to introspect, ponder about the current and the future.

She said change of mind and attitude was critical for residents to work in unison to take the village forward.

She said the village was beautiful, surrounded by hills, farms and other gifts of nature, thus residents could make use of them to better their lives.

She said the scenic beauty of the area that complements it's topography can be utilized through making sites to host weddings and other high profile events.

She said mountain climbing and hiking in the area can also be exploited to inject money into the village, noting all these opportunities required mindset change for residents to fully utilise them.

She said there was a machine that used cowdung to produce electricity and given that there was plenty of cowdung in the area residents could make use of.

She said the underprivileged members of the community should be assisted to graduate to a better economic status.

She said cowdung in the area could also be used to manufacture fertilizers to boost food security in the area.Dr Serumola is also VET chairperson and Village Extension Team chairperson.
