The Mindset Change Campaign aims to encourage Batswana to use every economic opportunity available in their country for wealth creation. Chief of Staff in the Office of the President, Mr Boyce Sebetela, highlighted this during the National Planning Commission (NPC) Vision 2036 Commemoration at Charleshill recently. 

Mr Sebetela was briefing the community of Charleshill about the Mindset Change Campaign launched earlier this year by President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi. 

Mr Sebetela said Botswana was blessed with ample economic opportunities, which required the nation to tap into for improvement of their livelihoods. He said the aspiration of turning Botswana into a high-income status enshrined in Vision 2036 would be realised if citizens turned available opportunities into sources of wealth. 

“One of the things we should understand is that there is no place in Botswana which does not have wealth opportunities,” he said. “Our country is rich with opportunities. We should change our mindset and use opportunities available in our country.” 

He mentioned that a number of such opportunities were available for the Charleshill community, including from agriculture and trade opportunities provided by the Trans-Kalahari Highway. 

The Trans Kalahari Highway connecting Botswana to Namibia and South Africa passes near the village. 

He therefore encouraged the Charleshill community to tap into business opportunities from trucks using the road to create income. 

Mr Sebetela encouraged people from the area around Charleshill to use cattle by-products to create business opportunities, since their district was one of the largest livestock production areas in Botswana. 

He said every Motswana was required to play a role in helping the country attain the Vision 2036 aspirations. 

“Without changing our mindset, how we think and view things, we would not achieve the aspirations of Vision 2036,” he said.  Ends
