 Thirty-year-old Godfrey Kgosiemang of Disaneng ward in Maun was on September 8 remanded in custody by Magistrate Thebeetsile Mulalu.

Kgosiemeng is accused of killing his six-year-old stepson, Osi Chakana as well as attempted murder and arson charges. According to the charge sheet, Kgosiemang, who is a taxi operator, also attempted to kill Osi’s mother, Oboletse Chakona and as well as burnt Oboletse’s vehicle.

Appearing on behalf of the Directorate on Public Prosecutions, Prosecutor Kebigetswe Reid said investigations were still ongoing.

Ms Reid said the deceased’s family was given time to mourn and bury the deceased at Moreomaoto hence the delay in wrapping up investigations. As a result she said the police were still recording statements. Ms Reid requested that the accused be further remanded in custody. The accused will appear for status report on September 21. ENDS
