The first phase of the Isaac Makwala Stadium, which consisted of a boundary wall and changing rooms, is complete, the MP for Nkange, Dr Never Tshabang, said. Addressing a kgotla meeting in Nswazwi on Monday, Dr Tshabang said authorities in the constituency were awaiting funds for the next stage which included the construction of sports fields and an athletics track.
He said planned projects were not progressing as anticipated, citing the construction of a new 72 bed hospital in Tutume.
Dr Tshabang said the hospital had been planned to be built in the 2017/2018 financial year. He said P100 million had been budgeted for the project this financial year.
He told residents that the health sector was facing challenges as nurses had ceased to issue drugs or medication to patients. He said they should expect delays when visiting clinics.
However, he said the Ministry of Health was working around the clock to remedy the situation, noting that they had advertised about 400 posts for pharmacists.
On other issues, Dr Tshabang said the Integrated Support Programme for Arable Agricultural Development (ISPAAD) was coming to an end this year. The programme would be replaced by Temo Letlotlo. The residents would be informed about the new scheme in due course.
He also said funds for the last ISPAAD had been provided. Farmers who had not been paid should visit their crop production offices. Some farmers had not been paid because details they provided lacked some information and that they needed to go to the office to make corrections.
The Chairperson of the Village Development Committee, Mr Motsumi Maule, complained that their clinic needed to be refurbished as it was dilapidated. He requested for electricity to be installed at the clinic. It was a challenge for patients to be assisted in the dark.ENDS
