Outgoing Brazil Ambassador, Mr Flavio Lima Rocha has been applauded for devoting his service to Botswana.
During a courtesy call on Friday, President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi said through Mr Lima Rocha’s successor, he was determined to forge ahead in bilateral relations and operational engagements, particularly in the agricultural space. He said the two nations had done a lot of work together in HIV and AIDS prevention pertaining to areas of research as well as digitalisation and broadcasting space.
President Masisi said Brazil was a big economy and a major player in BRICS, a trade bloc of emerging economies that Botswana was watching with keen interest.
Meanwhile, Mr Lima Rocha said he was happy to have, during his tenure, concluded the agreement on the exemption of the use of a visa to enter Brazil.
Recently, he said Brazil and South Africa aviation companies had resumed flight routes that were suspended as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, hoping that they would help improve movement between the two countries. ends
