Maitisong concert impressive

02 Dec 2013

Rich display of culture and spectacular folklore renditions on Friday evening (November 29) elated fans who had attended the annual charitable Maitisong Presidential Concert at Maru-a-Pula school.

Amongst those who enjoyed the spectacle were Vice President, Dr Ponatshego Kedikilwe and wife Elizabeth, heads of high commissions and embassies and the public.

The event, which was characterised by exciting fusion of various genres and thought provocative acts from amongst others, Mophato Dance Theatre, Mafitlhakgosi group, Bana Ba Bantogwa, KTM choral choir, Map Marimba Band and Mogwana in their repertoire kept the cheerful crowd on high.

Communicating historical and cultural messages creatively, with sound artistic flair, the groups weaved in meticulously, exhibiting high energy levels, with each showcasing its distinct element to a cheery audience.

From the quality of performances rendered, it was evident that Maitisong had brought together a cream of high performers and perhaps some of Botswana’s finest artists who had left an impressive track record throughout Maitisong festivals this year.

The presidential concert has been running since 2007 powered by Mascom Wireless Services and this year, it was sponsored to the tune of P100 000. A Maru-a-Pula student run company, Mini Company also sponsored with P4 000.

The money was for the less privileged under the care of a non-profiting youth organisation, Diphalana Counseling Centre which was engaged in charitable works in villages of Digawana, Gamajaalela, Mogojogojo, Lejwana and Gathwane. ENDS
