Molepolole South residents have been urged to rally behind President Mokgweetsi Masisi’s Mindset Change initiative, aimed at improving their lives.

Speaking at kgotla meetings in his Molepolole South constituency, Minister of State President, Mr Kabo Morwaeng,  said Batswana were fortunate to have someone of the calibre of President Masisi as their president because he was driven by a desire to improve the welfare of all citizens.

Mr Morwaeng said the reason behind the Mindset Change was to get Batswana to change how they have been doing things by raising their productivity levels and being efficient in their work.

“The president has already showed us that we can achieve Mindset Change, through the newly brokered diamonds deal between the Botswana Government and De Beers,” he said.

Mr Morwaeng said the deal would see Botswana earning more revenues throughout the diamond chain, from mining to the final product.

He mentioned another milestone achievement as the importation of bulls from the United States which he said would help develop the local beef industry.

“Don’t listen to those who are just in the habit of criticising everything that the government does, because they also use these programmes to improve their livelihoods,” he said.

Mr Morwaeng the residents should use Artificial Insemination centres near them saying they would only pay P35 for a straw and each farmer is allowed to bring a maximum of 10 cows.

“Owning a good breed is expensive, but the government is now making it possible for Batswana to improve their breeds for just P35,” he said.

Ms Masego Mogwera of Animal Health and Production said farmers should take their cows to the AI centres near them when the dates for the programme rollout are announced. She said through the AI centres farmers would be able to access the semen from the recently imported bulls.

Ms Mogwera said different straws would be available and farmers would choose the breeds they want. ENDS
