Standup comedy the in thing

01 Dec 2013

Standup comedy in Botswana is gradually becoming an alternative form of entertainment.

It has, in recent years, experienced a huge following country wide having been popularised by the Laff-a-lot crew. Other individuals are also coming in. On November 29, Seabelo Modibe of Lekoko Entertainment and also organiser of the annual Mascom Boosta Bash hosted a comedy show at GICC.

Seabelo had invited Tsietsi Matlakala from South Africa to the Mascom Boosta Bash comedy show. The Lekoko entertainment director said the show was meant for the all-time Mascom Boosta Bash supporters who never miss the annual event.

He said he wanted to appreciate their support by offering the fans a comedy show for free, adding that he intended to do such every year. Seabelo also noted that he would not only be confined to comedy shows as next year he wanted to organise a fashion show for Boosta Bash followers.

Tsietsi's performance was amazing and he never disappointed. With his funny lines, he made everyone laugh throughout his stage time. Fluently speaking Setswana, Tsietsi’s jokes were mainly sex explicit and about the general women behaviour in every society.

The comedian was once a winner in a show in South Africa called “So you think you are funny.” Ends
