A South African national died in an accident that happened a few kilometers from the Ramatlabama border gate on Wednesday evening. 

According to the Officer Commanding No. 4 District, Ms Sarah Gabathuse, the deceased who was alone in a vehicle was driving from South Africa to Botswana when he met his untimely death.

 

She said that preliminary reports suggest that the driver failed to stop at both South Africa and Botswana border gates. Instead, he drove through the gates and after passing the Botswana side he made a get-away. 

 

 Unfortunately, Ms Gabathuse said he lost control of the car and collided with a South African bound vehicle in which there were two occupants. 

 

Ms Gabathuse said the man was rushed to Good Hope Primary Hospital where he was certified dead upon arrival. 

She said that one of the occupants of the other car, a 50 year-old man sustained serious injuries and was admitted at Good Hope hospital while his female companion was treated for minor injuries and discharged. ENDS
