Police release Jwaneng fire suspects

The two suspects in the fire incident that engulfed 49 vehicles during the Toyota Gazoo Racing 1 000km Desert Race in Jwaneng have been released from police custody pending further investigations.
In an interview, Jwaneng police station commander, Superintendent Thuso Basuti said the two Jwaneng residents, aged 34 and 42 were released without charge to allow comprehensive investigations into the matter.
“We have released the two men as we continue to investigate the matter further. They were not charged since further investigations will determine what charges apply in their case,” he said.
Furthermore, Supt. Basuti said all the 49 vehicles that burnt in the inferno had been successfully identified by the owners.
Meanwhile, Jwaneng town clerk, Ms Ogaufi Molelo said there were collaboration efforts between Jwaneng Town Council and the police to offer psychological support to people who lost vehicles and other property in the tragedy. Ends
