Kasane police are investigating incidents of assault and murder that occurred between Kasane and Pandamatenga along the A33 Road on June 25.

In an interview, acting Officer Commanding District No.7, Superintendent Kgotlaetsile Oodira said the murder victim was a male Zimbabwean national aged 45 years while a male Tanzanian national, also 45 years, was assaulted.

He said preliminary investigations had revealed that the two men were on transit in a truck and had stopped 73 kilometres to Pandamatenga where the incident occurred between 6pm and 8pm to attend to a mechanical fault on the truck.

He added that the assault victim escaped with injuries following which he hitch-hiked to Pandamatenga and reported the incident to the police.

Supt. Oodira said the perpetrators escaped with P13 000 cash, a laptop and phones.

However, he said such incidents were not common given that many truck drivers continually took breaks along the road to rest. ENDS
