Sebina arsonist case with DPP

The prosecutor in the case in which Zimbabwean national, Mgcini Ncube is facing charges of arson, has informed the court that the case has been handed to the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

Sergeant Kabelo Moremi said the docket had been handed to DPP and he was hopeful that the matter would have been allocated a state counsel at the next mention. He said the substantive state counsel would furnish the accused with copies of statements and the police would assist the accused to follow up the people who owed him.

Earlier, the accused requested for statements in the matter and that the court should assist him get money from the people who owed him because he was arrested before they paid him.

Ncube also pleaded with the court to speed up the matter as he was remanded in custody. Principal Magistrate Thebeetsile Mulalo set December 4 as another mention date. The 34 year-old Ncube was accused of setting two houses in Sebina on fire on August 9. ENDS
