Andante dishes out electrifying tunes

The renowned Ramotswa choir, Andante Chorus on November 23 lived up to their reputation when they gave their supporters the finest and intriguing Africa sounds.

After traversing the world with some classics from various legendary composers such as Orlando Lassus’ matona lovely maiden and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s finale from la clemenza di tito, among others, the charged choir came back home with African pieces which they sang recently electrifying the atmosphere inside the Emmanuel Counselling Centre Hall.

As some from among the audience sang along, others shed tears while others threw money at the podium to appreciate the presentation of the folksong and dance, known as marabi. Although some of the songs were in Zulu and Xhosa, the audience could certainly identify and cheered in tandem with the Africa rhythm.

Earlier, the chairperson of Andante Chorus, Lefoko Moagi said the choir was holding the session to appreciate the support it got from various sectors of the community. “We want to thank you, you have been supporting us, “he said when addressing the crowd.

Furthermore, he encouraged the community to continue to support the choir so that they could reach greater heights. The choir public relations officer Ben Makabe further appreciated the support from other choirs who came to support their event.

He said that showed maturity as choirs needed to support others for the growth of the choral music. “This shows that even though we compete against each other, we are not enemies,”Makabe said. He further appreciated the support of the parents who released their children to join Andante Chorus. Ends
