Tutume police are investigating a case in which a 34-year -old man is alleged to have murdered his  73-year old father.

 According to Tutume Police Station Commander Superintendent Lesego Kgosiemang the incident happened at Mabuwe ward in Nkange on Tuesday around 2030 hours.

He said police received a report from the suspect’s mother, aged 68 who is the wife to the deceased at around 2100 hours that her husband was motionless.

Supt Kgosiemang said their preliminary investigation indicated that upon return from the lands the suspect's mother was suprised to find her son doing household chores, something  she said he had never done. 

The mother then asked him why he was helping with the house chores, the son became angry and attemmpted to beat his mother by  throwing kitchen utensils at her, said Superintendent Kgosiemang .

He said the mother ran to the house where the deceased was and the son followed her unfortunately he overpowered her when she tried to lock him outside. Supt Kgosiemang said the mother then bolted out of the house to seek help from neighbours leaving both her husband and son inside the house.

When she returned the old man was lying down motionless whilst the accused had vanished into thin air. Supt Kgosiemang said they suspected that the deceased was hit by something blunt or a rod on the head because his head was was swollen without any wounds and he could not speak.

Supt Kgosiemang said it was then that he was rushed to Senete clinic where he was certified dead . He said the suspect  was later  arrested and is remanded in custody while nvestigations continue. BOPA
